 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College maintains Assessment Centers at three campuses. If we do not have an appointment available at your first choice of location, please look at the openings at one of our other sites.

 ATI Test Policy 
You must be a Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Nursing student to take the ATI Tests.

This NOT the TEAS V. These are the ATI assessments.

 COMPASS and Ability to Benefit Policies 
The COMPASS Placement Exam is used as a placement tool for counselors and advisors when a student has not taken the ACT. This exam has no fee and no time limit. Generally this exam takes 2 hours and can only be taken once.

You must apply to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College before taking the COMPASS Placement Exam. The COMPASS Placement Exam is a computerized test consisting of writing, reading, and mathematics. The Assessment Center provides students with all materials needed for this exam. Students are only required to bring picture identification to the Assessment Center on their scheduled test day. After completion of the test, students will be given a copy of their results as a copy will be put in the student’s permanent file in Admissions.

 Computer Competency Exam Policy 
No college credit is given for the Computer Competency Exam. The test consists of three parts: word processing, spreadsheets, and internet. Students taking this exam must have an email account. The Computer Competency Exam has been developed to demonstrate computer competency for graduating students who have not taken any specific computer class but believe they are computer competent in the following areas:

1. The ability to do basic navigation of the Internet
2. The ability to research specific topics using the Internet
3. The capability to locate a web address
4. The ability to communicate using electronic mail
5. The ability to use a word processor program
6. The ability to use a spreadsheet program

You must be a student at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to take the Computer Competency Exam. This exam is used only to meet graduation requirements; therefore, no college credit is given for this exam. The registration form can be picked up in the Career Center or Assessment Center. Take the completed registration form to the Business Office and pay a $25.00 non-refundable fee. On your scheduled test date, bring a picture identification and the completed registration form with proof of payment stamp or receipt for the $25.00 fee.

 Distance Learning Online Exam Policy 
The request for a proctored Distance Learning online exam needs to be submitted at least 2 working business days in advance. On your scheduled exam day, only bring items allowed for completing the exam as identified by the course instructor and a picture identification. No other materials will be allowed.

In addition to MSVCC Distance Learning online testing, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Assessment Centers also offer proctoring for students who are non-MGCCC and/or non-MSVCC students. In such cases, students will need to contact the appropriate Assessment Center to inform our MGCCC proctors of their institutions process for off campus testing.
